In the midst of the uncertainty imposed by the coronavirus, we have a glimmer of certainty on the horizon: there is less than a month before the summer season on the Atlantic Coast begins to roll, since

from December 1

entry to tourists.

The first steps were already taken last week, with the opening to non-resident owners.

From the Government they want to

guarantee the summer season

- as they said on several occasions - and the country's destinations seek to accelerate preparations for the moment when visitors begin to arrive.

In the province of Buenos Aires and particularly the

Atlantic Coast

-one of the traditionally most required areas in the summer season-, from the Partido de la Costa, passing through Pinamar, Villa Gesell and Mar del Plata to Miramar, Necochea or Monte Hermoso , that process is already underway.

To get an idea of the number of people that mobilize this region, only in Mar del Plata, between December 1, 2019 and February 29, 2020, there were almost 3,500,000 visitors.

Some definitions are missing

, some protocols, there are still concerns, but

the season begins to beat

.

“It is clear that there will be a season, in a pandemic context, with protocols.

To

relax, but without relaxing

: each activity has its protocol ”, says Marcela García, Secretary of Tourism of

Necochea

, a city characterized by its 64 kilometers of wide beaches.

In Necochea they point out the importance of individual and collective responsibility.

In the tents, up to 6 people will be admitted, in the common spaces it will be necessary to circulate with a chinstrap, the changing rooms will not be enabled, there will be external showers, outdoor spaces of bars and restaurants will be prioritized and it will be required to complete sworn statements to be able to follow up in case of need it.

The important thing is "social, collective responsibility," says García, and highlights the relevance that tourism has for the economy not only of the sectors directly involved, such as a hotel, but also dry cleaners, supermarkets or bakeries.

With the recent confirmation of the return of tourism to the beaches "we are beginning to see a

growing movement of both inquiries and reservations,

" says Federico Scremin, president of the

Municipal Tourism

Authority

of Mar del Plata

, and explains that as the details of the protocols are finalized "the number of eventual tourists who want to come to the city will increase".

He points out that the Pre-trip plan is an incentive and that they also enabled a WhatsApp channel from Emtur so that people can get advice before traveling.

“Although it is difficult to foresee what will happen, we have well-founded expectations that it will allow the

economic reactivation

of the sector”, explains Scremin, adding: “The impossibility of traveling to Uruguay and the decrease in trips to foreign destinations will generate an opportunity that we should take advantage of ”.

Trust in the good positioning of Mar del Plata due to infrastructure, geography - lagoon, mountains and sea - and many options to avoid the crowding of people.

Atypical summer

“We created a seal of sanitary quality.

When we detect that a provider complies with our manual or guidelines, we give them the seal of quality.

It is not an ordinary protocol, and that is why it differentiates us from others ”, explains Emiliano Felice,

Villa Gesell's

secretary of tourism

.

As it has already been determined that the

Cuidar Verano app

will be mandatory for all tourists who want to travel through the province of Buenos Aires, “once this process has been done along with the reservation of the place where it will be hosted, in the case of Gesell will reach the entrances.

All four will be enabled (Gesell Norte, Gesell Sur, Mar de las Pampas and Mar Azul).

There will be a control point for the app, which matches the requested permission, and that will be the entry mechanism, trying to make the format as expeditious as possible ”, he explains.

There is no talk of quotas or tests for now, unless indicated by the province.

Tourism Villa Gesell

Among the issues raised by the Comprehensive Health Plan for the Villa Gesell Summer Season, which was established in mid-August, there are issues that we are all beginning to internalize because they are seen in other destinations around the world and are part of the

new normal

.

The need to shorten check in / out times, counters with screens;

entrance and exit circuits with hygiene points for the disinfection of hands and footwear at the access to the establishments.

Keys or cards are for the exclusive use of the guest - avoid keeping them at reception during their stay, for example-;

offer electronic or virtual means of payment;

unit ventilation for guest turnover.

All graphic material is also eliminated and gym and spa services are not provided: if they are used, they will have to be done privately, in shifts, after disinfection between guests.

As for the breakfast service, it should be provided in the room or in a room with a table allocation system, and eliminate self-service or buffet.

To go to the

beach

, the chinstrap is mandatory when entering and staying (not mandatory in the tent or umbrella);

distance is required in and out of the water and between the personal elements of each group;

spacing of 4 meters in the umbrellas and mandatory footwear on access and travel.

The Beach Safety Operation in Gesell will control the

density of occupation of each beach

: when a beach is saturated, tourists will be referred to a nearby one that has more space and where the mandatory distance can be maintained.

"The success of the season does not happen by limiting, but by strictly applying everything for which we prepare," says Felice.

On the beaches of Villa Gesell the density of occupation will be controlled.

Villa Gesell also includes Mar de las Pampas, Las Gaviotas and Mar Azul.

Although they have noticed inquiries and reservations in all of them, the highest demand was in places with few seats, high-end, where there is a greater anticipation.

Queries, reservations, prices

The issue of protocols runs through all destinations.

In Mar del Plata, for example, it is known that gastronomic establishments will work with separate tables, menus with QR codes and sanitation measures, and they will be able to house a percentage of their total capacity.

In addition, the commune approved the

"gastronomic corridors"

, streets in which the passage of vehicles will be limited so that businesses can build their "patios".

Without the approval of the provincial government, the auctioneers propose that those who rent houses or apartments bring their own linen (sheets and towels), including the pillow.

Or they can buy at the destination or use a disposable that would be supplied.

A minimum rental of one week is also proposed and, between one tenant and another, one day off for disinfection.

The resorts of the Atlantic Coast await tourists from 1/12 (non-resident owners can enter from 1/11).

A few weeks ago, the College of Auctioneers published the "suggested" values for the season: one-room apartments, for two or three people, from $ 23,000 per fortnight;

2 rooms, for three or four people, from $ 29,500;

those with 3 rooms, for five or six people, from $ 35,000, and the chalets with 3 rooms, from $ 42,000.

However, in the market the rates are above these values.

For example, for a 1-bedroom apartment, in a downtown area and two blocks from the sea, the values range from $ 3,000 to $ 5,000 per day on average, depending on equipment and quality.

One week, from $ 21,000.

A house in the La Perla area, with a patio and garage for one car, from $ 6,000 per day.

In hotels, a week in January, in a 3-star hotel, costs $ 42,200 for a double room with breakfast;

In Playa Grande, $ 54,000 a fortnight.

The daily price is not defined, but according to the spa, an average of $ 4,000 per tent is estimated for January.

$ 56,000 the week.

At the time of sitting at the table, breakfast of coffee with milk with two croissants costs $ 170;

tourist menu $ 670.

In Necochea, where the Secretary of Tourism Marcela García highlights that they received "many calls from people who

work remotely

and are looking for a longer stay" (something positive, the longer, the less replacement), the double room in a 4-star hotel It costs between $ 4,000 and $ 5,000 and an apartment for 3 or 4 people, from $ 7,000 per day.

On the beach, the umbrella costs $ 8,500 a week and $ 12,600 a fortnight;
