Albino Armani Viticoltori dal 1607 from Verona is among the winners of the "Global Best of Wine Tourism Award", the wine tourism competition, now in its fourth edition.
This was decreed by the international jury of the annual Great Wine Capitals Conference, the network of the Great Wine Capitals.
This year, due to the global pandemic, only six capitals have decided to organize the competition, including Verona, the only Italian city, which has been part of the international organization with the Chamber of Commerce since 2016.
The Best of Wine Tourism awards recognize outstanding wine tourism initiatives that exhibit standards of excellence.
Since the first edition 5,290 companies have participated and 805 candidates have been selected for a year of international promotion at all levels, in collaboration with the monthly Decanter.
The International Jury, made up of representatives from the 11 countries participating in the Network, examined the applications and declared a Global winner for each participating capital.
For Verona, the Cantina Albino Armani Viticoltori dal 1607 brought home the important recognition, which won for the category "sustainable practices in wine tourism".
"The rural habitat is not only the place of origin of typical products, such as wine - says the President of the Cciaa of Verona, Giuseppe Riello - but also the possible place of 'experiential consumption', the close encounter with the values of an authentic local culture. It follows that tourism represents a valid tool for the sustainable development of peripheral rural areas because, if properly managed, it allows the maintenance of the rural habitat in all its aspects: environmental, cultural, social and economic " .
