(ANSA) - TURIN - With no audience in the hall due to the Coronavirus emergency, but very popular on the web, the World Alba White Truffle Auction ended with record revenues of 482 thousand euros.
Resources that, among the various charitable initiatives financed, will be used to host young doctors in training arriving in Piedmont to support the Covid departments of hospitals in difficulty.
"Once again we have managed to convey the great Piedmontese products to the world together with a concrete message and contribution of solidarity", comments the vice president of the Piedmont Region, Fabio Carosso.
Conducted by Enzo Iacchetti, Caterina Balivo and Paolo Vizzarri from the Castle of Grinzane Cavour (Cuneo), the auction, which reached its twenty-first edition this year, was held in connection with Hong Kong, Moscow, Singapore and Dubai.
The final lot, weighing 900 grams, was won by a Hong Kong businessman with an offer of 100 thousand euros.
The auction is organized by the Cavour Piedmontese Regional Enoteca, with the support of the Piedmont Region, Enit, the Consortium for the Protection of Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe and Dogliani, the Langhe Monferrato Roero Tourism Organization, the International White Truffle Fair Authority d'Alba and the National Center for Truffle Studies.
