Do you also love the smell of fresh pretzels and the feeling of biting into a warm, fresh lye pastry?

From now on you can always have that.

Some people really like them for breakfast, for others they are a must when sausages are on the grill.

And the third one, thickly buttered, pushes it between his cheeks as a morning snack in the office.

We're talking about the pretzel.

Or pretzel.

Or pretzels.

Depending on the regional origin of the consumer, the pronunciation of the name of this wonderful pretzel biscuit changes a little.

But in the end everyone knows what is meant.

Baking a pretzel yourself is not that easy, by the way.

At least when the demands on yourself are high and you want to compete with the local baker with the end product.

But with this recipe you can do it!

This is how you make the perfect pretzels

Servings: 3 large pretzels Preparation time: 30 minutes Baking time: 15 minutes

Pretzels: preparation

  • Add the yeast and sugar to the water and dissolve in it.

  • Add the yeast mixture to the flour and knead together with the melted butter to form a smooth dough.

    (Knead for about 10-12 minutes)

  • Shape the dough into three balls of the same size.

  • Gradually shape the individual balls into an elongated shape.

(For a giant pretzel about 1 meter long)

  • Shape the dough rolls into pretzels and let them rest on the baking sheet for about 10 minutes.

  • Preheat the grill or oven to 225 degrees.

  • Bring the water with baking soda to the boil and generously coat the raw pretzels with it while still hot.

  • Then sprinkle the sea salt evenly over the pretzels.

  • Bake the pretzels for about 15 to 20 minutes.
