A 50-year-old has to answer before the Hamburg district court from this Friday.
He is said to have tried to burn his ex-wife and two children on May 1 of this year.
The public prosecutor's office accuses the man of fourfold attempted murder.
First, the man is said to have stabbed his ex-partner, then he broke into the apartment in the Lurup district, showered his son, daughter and wife with gasoline and infected them.
The 50-year-old has been charged with fourfold attempted murder because the attacks on his ex-wife are considered two different acts.
The twelve-year-old daughter was able to save herself on a balcony of the burning apartment - although also doused with gasoline - and alert the rescue workers.
In the days before the man's attack, the woman had stated, according to the prosecutor, that she had finally separated from the man.
According to a court spokesman, the prosecution assumes that the 50-year-old wanted to kill his family and himself in a so-called extended suicide.
The mother and son survived with life-threatening injuries
The mother and son survived the man's attack with life-threatening injuries.
You have been treated in clinics for months and will suffer permanent severe damage.
The apartment burned out completely.
The alleged perpetrator also suffered severe burns.
He was only able to negotiate a few hours a day, said a court spokesman.
The defense attorney said that his client did not want to comment on the indictment immediately.
The children and the now 41-year-old mother appear as joint plaintiffs in the trial.
The woman is to be heard as a witness on the next two trial dates.
