(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 18 - The premier of South Australia has announced the imposition of a six-day lockdown to contain the spread of the coronavirus after the discovery of a firebox in a hotel.

The Guardian reports it.

    Australia in general has managed to manage the Covid-19 pandemic better than almost any country in the world with less than 28,000 total cases and just over 900 victims.

In the south, after more than seven days without a case of local transmission, 20 infected were registered in Adelaide where another 4,000 people were forced into solitary confinement.

For this reason Prime Minister Steven Marshall has announced the new measures and other states of Australia have closed the borders to the south.

    The lockdown, which will start from midnight today, will be short-lived but quite rigid.

They will close all universities and schools except for children with disabilities and children of essential workers;

stop at bars, restaurants, pubs, clubs and even take-away food;

you will only be able to go to the hospital for chemotherapy or other cancer treatments and urgent interventions;

ban on outdoor sports, a very popular activity throughout Australia, especially now that it is summer.

   And of course stop all travel within the region.
