(ANSA) - ISTANBUL, NOV 18 - The Iranian activist against compulsory veiling Nasibe Semsai, who fled the Islamic Republic after a 12-year prison sentence for his protest, was stopped at Istanbul airport while trying to board a flight to Spain. According to Turkish authorities, 36-year-old Semsai, one of the best-known figures in campaigns such as that of 'White Wednesday', with the color of the hijab that women took off and waved, allegedly used a false passport.
The activist is now detained in a center for irregular migrants in Edirne, near the border with Greece, and risks expulsion to her country of origin. (HANDLE).
