A CBC exam preparing students to enter

law school

generated a stir on social media due to a question that had a clear political tone.

In the partial, the students were asked to explain why “in Mauricio Macri's government there was a scientific and technological delay.” And they were given the option of choosing

between five answers.

-It was not necessary to build the Arsat III satellite since in inaccessible places, including rural schools,

internet

connectivity was not necessary

because they are dedicated to rural tasks.

-There were no resources to finance the research

because the country had a huge external debt.

-Scientists and technologists did not agree with the neoliberal government and decided to slow down their research so that the innovations would not occur during their government.

-It was considered a priority to order the economy before starting with investment in science and technology.

-Macri considered that Argentina should limit itself to an agro-export model and buy whatever technology was needed.

As revealed,

the last option was the answer that was considered correct.

A student who participated in the exam said that “the question has nothing to do with the content and also the choice of the answer depends on the subjectivity of each one.

As far as I know, nobody raised it directly with the head of the chair because two things happen: on the one hand, this action is naturalized.

It is said: 'well, this is part of the public university'.

And on the other hand, nobody wants to be singled out for fear of losing the course ”.

The slogan was part of the first part of the subject Introduction to Scientific Thought.

It was taken in one of the commissions of the chair led by Professor

Javier Flax.

It was one of 25 questions asked on the exam.

The student assured that the political line came from Flax.

"Right from the start, before starting the course, there was an introductory video on the subject in which Flax questioned Macri's policies and talked about cutting science and technology over and over again," he explained.

During the exam there were political discussions in the students' chat, between those who were scandalized by the question and those who downplayed it.

Clarín

tried to talk to Flax, but his cell phone was switched off at all times.

There was also no response from the CBC authorities, since from there they argue that the response should come from the Rectorate of the UBA.

On the other hand, sources from the University told

Clarín

that the UBA has academic freedom and each holder chooses its content.

"Just as these types of questions are in one chair, in another you have a completely opposite ideology. That is the wealth of the UBA, where there is freedom of thought."

Flax downloaded a response on social media.

He assured that it was not an act of indoctrination

, but that it was about teaching facts.

“To say that teaching facts is indoctrination is, at the very least, a huge lack of intellectual honesty.

Indeed, during the government of Mauricio Macri there was an indisputable delay in scientific research and technological innovation.

The minimum contents of the subject include: 'The social and environmental impact of science.

Science, technology, society and ethical dilemmas'.

So we deal with these issues, in addition to training in logical reasoning and scientific knowledge methodology, "he said.
