Recall of kitchen product: limit value for carcinogens clearly exceeded

First report from July 22nd:

Eschborn - A recall campaign in a total of eleven federal states is currently causing a stir.

The Finnish Fiskars Group found that one of their products exceeded the limit for primarily aromatic amines.

According to animal studies, these organic compounds are considered to be carcinogenic.

The Finnish company is therefore recalling the product “Functional FormTM Spoon” with immediate effect.

The wooden spoon comes into contact with food, creating a potential health risk.

The wooden spoon can be recognized by its orange knob at the bottom of the spoon.

In the notification of July 22, 2020, the manufacturer writes that it concerns all products that were manufactured on December 23, 2019.

Owners of the recalled items should immediately return the product to the store where they bought the wooden spoon.

When the product is recalled, the buyer of the product receives a refund and a new wooden spoon from a harmless production period.

Fiskars products are sold at Rewe, Netto or Real and in various hardware stores such as Obi or Hornbach.

This is how you can find out whether the product is affected by the recall: The batch code is on the back of the packaging.

All products with the code: 191223 are affected. If the packaging has already been removed, proof can also be found on the wooden spoon.

A print on the back shows the month and year of production.

If there is a 12 for the month and a 1 and 9 for the year, the product is affected by the recall and should be returned immediately.

If you have any questions about the current recall, the German consumer service of the Fiskars Group is available: Telephone: 0800 005 1010 or service.de (at) fiskars.com.

The Finnish company apologizes for the inconvenience and assures that the limit value was only exceeded for the batch of December 23, 2019.

All other products can be used without hesitation.

The federal states of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Brandenburg, Hamburg, Hesse, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein are affected.
