First snow of the season: hikers walk along the highest point on the Brocken

The first snow this winter fell in the Harz Mountains.
On the Brocken in Saxony-Anhalt, the highest mountain in northern Germany at 1141 meters, there was a thin layer of flakes.
Some snow also fell down to Braunlage.
According to the German Weather Service (DWD), the flakes do not stay.
On Saturday morning, frost and temperatures just below zero degrees are still to be expected in the mountainous region, and slippery conditions due to snow are also possible.
As early as Sunday, the temperatures in the Upper Harz should be above freezing again and the stormy, uncomfortable November weather continues throughout Lower Saxony.

Otherwise, the weather over Germany at the weekend is divided into two parts: sun and blue sky in the south, clouds and rain in the north.
While the southern and western parts of the country benefit from an Azores high, a northern sea low in the rest of the country ensures rather cloudy November days.
According to the DWD, it is not possible to say exactly where the border runs.
"Roughly at the level of the Moselle and Main," estimated a DWD meteorologist in Offenbach.
To the north of it it is reportedly cloudy, especially on Saturday, and it rains again and again.
On the coasts and in the mountains there are stormy gusts, the maximum temperatures there are 9 to 12 degrees.
It remains dry to the south.
Where the fog disappears, as well as in the Alps and the high altitudes of the Black Forest, it is sunny for a long time.
Nevertheless, it remains quite cool with a maximum of 9 degrees on Sunday.
According to the DWD, the new week will start exactly the other way around: in the north - as well as from the Black Forest to the Allgäu - temporary sunshine and dry, over the middle and the south lots of clouds and rain in some areas.
