Three civilians were caught this morning (Sunday) at a checkpoint at the entrance to the city of Eilat, after presenting fake corona checks, this is the first known case of counterfeit corona checks since the hotels in the city opened for mornings over the weekend, under the requirement to undergo a corona check.
The three were apprehended thanks to the vigilance of the city inspector, who noticed that two of the passengers were holding fake test results.
According to the suspicion, one of the passengers performed a test of Sofia at its best and the three other passengers in the vehicle changed the name on the form and duplicated the test results.
A complaint against the three was submitted to the Eilat Regional Police and, in accordance with the directive of the mayor - Meir Yitzhak Halevi, the matter was also referred to the legal bureau of the municipality.
"We will act with zero tolerance towards anyone who acts irresponsibly and thus harms all our efforts to preserve the city of Eilat, its economy and the health of its residents," said the mayor.
According to the law, all those who follow the city's hair are required to present a negative corona test.
As part of this, from Thursday and during the weekend, about 250 vehicles were returned to the north in which the passengers did not present a valid negative corona test.
At this stage, a rapid sampling station will not be opened in Neot Smadar, and those coming to Eilat from Road 12 who need to perform a quick inspection will have to connect to the Arava Road - Road 90 in favor of an inspection at the Yotvata Inn.
During the coming week, an MDA mobile will patrol the Arava localities, for the benefit of corona tests for the residents of the Middle Arava.
In Eilat, a record number of examinees was recorded last week in the "Hibdek VeSa" complex, which will operate every day until the end of the month, including Friday and Saturday.
During the past week, 6,512 residents of Eilat and the Arava were inspected in the "Hibdek VeSa" complex operated by the Home Front Command and MDA. This strengthens the importance of performing the tests in order to maintain the personal health of each and every one of the residents of Eilat.
Currently, the percentage of positives among the residents of Eilat surveyed is about 0.3% with 22 verified.
Deputy and Acting Mayor - Eli Lankri, who also serves as chairman of the Municipal Tourism Corporation, notes that this is still a very low percentage compared to Israel, where the percentage of positives is over 2%.
