(ANSA) - TEHRAN, NOV 22 - "Iran condemns the trip of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to the West Asian region and the statements made during the visit", Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said today, stressing that " these visits are nothing more than the latest attempt to follow up on American apolitics that have already failed ".
"The window of opportunity is closing for the disgraced regional governments who have allied themselves with President Donald Trump's administration," Khatibzadeh told a news conference.
"Unfortunately, some of these rulers have invested all their honor for people that the American people with the vote have decided they must leave," he added.
Khatibzadeh also denounced Pompeo's "bitter visit to the Palestinian occupied territories" last Thursday and said in this regard that "it would not have happened without the betrayal of some rulers of the region".
A few days after his mandate expired, Pompe carried out a long mission which, after France, Turkey and Georgia, took him to Israel, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar.
