The police stopped an 85-year-old man near Ansbach who was using a motorized wheelchair on federal highway 13.

According to the police, the incident occurred on Sunday.

It was not forbidden to use a so-called hospital elevator on a federal road, it said.

However, the man caused a traffic jam on the route from Ansbach to Gunzenhausen and was noticed because of his unsafe driving style.

Because of the darkness, it was also difficult for drivers to see.

When the police stopped the man, they found that he had very poor hearing.

A passerby then took him home by car.

The police handed over the hospital elevator to relatives of the 85-year-old.

The police spokesman couldn't say where the man was going.
