A shoplifter in Hagen, North Rhine-Westphalia, is said to have stolen 140 tubes of adhesive cream.

According to the police, a witness in a shop had observed a suspect who paid only a few parts at the cash register - although his previously empty backpack was now full.

The witness alerted the police and pursued the man who drove away in a van.

When the officers stopped the car on Tuesday evening, they discovered the tubes in it that had come from at least two thefts in discount stores.

They also discovered that the 31-year-old's driver's license was forged.

The man was arrested.

What the suspect was up to with the adhesive cream remained unclear.
