If the 19,300 MW of wind farms envisaged by the PNIEC (National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan) were installed in Italy, it would contribute to increasing employment with 67,200 jobs, a good percentage of which is distributed in the South.
This is the estimate made by Anev, the association of Italian wind power companies, in the Wind Europe report, on the prospects for wind energy in the European Union.
In Italy, wind power generates a financial flow of around 3.5 billion euros each year, between direct and indirect investments, and today has over 27,000 employees.
In addition, 20.06 TWh from wind power were produced in 2019, which is equivalent to the needs of around 20 million people and a saving of around 12 Mt of avoided CO2 emissions and 25 million barrels of oil.
The European wind industry has an annual turnover of around € 60 billion.
65% of these economic benefits remain in Europe.
Each new turbine installed in Europe generates an average of 10 million euros of economic activity.
This value is distributed in the 248 European companies that produce turbines and components and in those involved in planning, construction, logistics and research and development.
The growth of wind power will help Europe strengthen its global leadership in the sector.
Currently 5 of the top 10 turbine manufacturers in the world are European, and together they have a global market share of 42%.
