(two locations), Rheinberg, Werne, Graben near Augsburg and Koblenz to a three-day
strike
.

With the strike, the Verdi union wants to put pressure on the online retailer

The reason is a long-term dispute over collective agreements.
“For eight years now, our colleagues have been denied the wages required by collective bargaining agreements and living wages.
At the same time, the group, with the richest man in the world at the top, is making

profits through the coronavirus pandemic,

The second and smallest
Amazon
logistics center in Bad Hersfeld * specializes in the storage and dispatch of beer, wine and spirits.
According to
Verdi
, employees in the two plants in Bad Hersfeld stopped working late on Wednesday when the night shift began.
The strike should last until Saturday.
Just before Black Friday: Will the Amazon strike result in late deliveries?
Employees
at other
Amazon
logistics centers
have already started the strike.
It is not currently known how many employees have left their work.
It is therefore difficult to estimate
how big the impact on
Black Friday
deliveries
will be.
An Amazon spokesman said the teams are currently “focused on getting the packages to the customer”.
Due to the
corona pandemic
, strike participants did not even come to the factory premises.
In view of the number of infections, "silent strikes" have been agreed, Verdi said.

According to Verdi, around 3,500 people work regularly at Amazon in Bad Hersfeld.
Amazon has 15 logistics centers at 14 locations in Germany with around 16,000 permanent employees.
Amazon
itself
is currently not assuming any delivery disaster on
Black Friday
.
Parcels arrive on time, the majority of employees take care of customer orders as usual, according to the company.
Saturn and Media Markt are also offering many deals on Black Friday and are massively competing with Amazon.
