Is the district in which you live currently bright red, red or dark red?
Overviews and district maps with information on new corona infections are currently ubiquitous and despite differences in detail, the overall impression is currently gloomy, so often quite red.
With a few exceptions, the number of confirmed new infections in German cities and districts is currently above the targeted threshold of 50 cases per week and 100,000 inhabitants.
In other words: the infection rate almost everywhere exceeds the capacity of the health authorities to follow up on contacts.
But even if the map, which is almost completely colored in red, conveys a fairly uniform picture, the current
dynamics
are very different
in detail
.
Around 33 million people live in regions in which the number of new infections reported has fallen by at least a quarter over the course of the week.
Another 26 million live in regions where development is stagnating, and where around 24 million people live, the number has recently increased by at least 25 percent.
