The Regions of Veneto, Piedmont, Valle d'Aosta, Lombardy, Friuli Venezia Giulia and the Autonomous Provinces of Bolzano and Trento, presented to the Government a mediation proposal to avoid a complete collapse of the winter tourism sector: it provides, in summary, the possibility to open the ski lifts on the occasion of the upcoming Christmas holidays for guests of hotels and second homes.
This is indicated in a note signed by the representatives of the Regions and Provinces.
It is, explain the Italian Alpine Regions, an idea of "different Christmas holidays, with the possibility of skiing only for those who spend at least one night in the various destinations or for those who own or rent a second home in the ski areas".
The proposal was formulated by the Councilors of the Alpine Regions to avoid crowds in tourist resorts.
"Granting the ski pass to those who have stayed overnight in an accommodation facility and to those who own or rent a second home allows you to better control the flow to the ski resort.
Commuting can in fact be a problem on certain days
" say the councilors of Piedmont, Valle d'Aosta, Lombardy, Province of Bolzano, Province of Trento, Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia.
"The solution we are proposing to the Conte government - they continue - allows us to start the winter season gradually, in this way we can apply the safety protocols that we approved last Monday and put them to the test".
According to the councilors of the 5 Regions and the two Autonomous Provinces, if you allow the purchase of ski passes only to those who have stayed overnight in an accommodation facility or in a second home "you will be able to know precisely the number of patrons for each day and in this way we will be able to better manage the inflow and outflow to the ski lifts. This is a reasonable solution, to be adapted to the needs of each territory. The Government, listen to us, allow the opening of the ski lifts with this criterion and allow regional mobility ".
Allowing regional mobility during the holidays is in fact, the Alpine areas argue, a necessary requirement for the sector: "if the Technical Scientific Committee and the Government intend to ban it to avoid parties and moments of aggregation, at least allow mobility between Regions for those who have booked at least one night in an accommodation facility ".
