Corona research has come to new findings: At a certain stage of the disease, the infected transmit a particularly large number of viruses.

  • The

    Corona

    * -Research has produced new results.

  • During this

    time

    , people

    infected

    with

    corona

    are

    most contagious.

  • Are our current

    test

    method for effective

    infection containment

    .

Kassel - The

fact

that

people

quickly

become infected

with the

corona virus is

shown by the constantly high number of infections.

However

, it was not yet known

within what

time

infected people are really contagious.

The latest findings from the

science

that question cleared up now.

The

researchers

are also questioning the current

test

method.

New corona findings: During this time, infected people are contagious

A

study

by researchers from

Scotland

examined the

time when corona

infected people are most contagious.

The research team from the University of St. Andrews came to the

result

that people with the

Corona

-

virus

infected, occur in the first 5 days after the first

symptoms

probably are most contagious.

New knowledge could also be gathered about the duration of the risk of infection.

According to the scientists around Muge Cevik, after

9 days there are

probably no more infectious viruses in a patient's body.

This means that from this point on the

patients are

no longer contagious.

The

researchers

came to their results

by

evaluating

data from 79

corona studies

.

Infectious

viruses

could not be found

in any of the samples taken 9 or more days after the onset of

symptoms

.

Corona study: The viruses can be detected in the body for a long time

The

corona virus

could be detected for a very long time

in some samples

.

The longest evidence in the

study

was found in a stool sample after 126 days.

On average, the

corona viruses

could be detected for between 14 and 17 days, albeit no longer infectious.

This also

applies to the

PCR tests

customary

in

Germany

, which are often used in Germany.

Corona tests: PCR follow-up tests could be omitted in the future

On the basis of PCR follow-up tests it is currently intended to determine whether the

person is

still contagious.

The genetic material of

SARS-CoV-2 is

detected in

the

PCR tests

.

This means that even if the

person

concerned

no

longer carries

any infectious

viruses

, the

test

can be

positive.

The

researchers

from

Scotland

therefore suggest that with less severe courses, it is assumed that the person is no longer infectious after 10 days.

It

is currently unclear

whether this

will soon be applied

in

Germany

.

New findings about Corona: What is important now

The new findings from Scotland show one thing above all:

Isolation

from the first

symptoms

is very important in order to

contain the

further spread of the

corona virus

.

The risk of infection is highest

especially in the first

phase of

the

illness

, i.e. in the first 5 days.

This also requires further clarification of the various symptoms of the disease.

The research team also points out that many people are currently unable to isolate themselves adequately due to their living conditions.

The team suggests that governments

could provide

housing

as

an alternative

to improve this situation.
