Five hundred people have been hospitalized in Eruru, in Andhra Pradesh since last weekend, due to the consequences of a still mysterious disease.

The state, in southern India, is hit hard by Covid and is the third most affected in the country, with over 800,000 positives, but health professionals exclude that patients are affected, even though they are still unable to indicate the causes of the disease .

All inmates are negative for the virus and symptoms are of different kinds: vomiting, burning eyes, fainting, seizures. The state health minister, Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas, said a team of WHO experts will arrive in Eluru in the next few hours. But while the doctors did not officially give any further information, a parliamentarian of the BIP, Narasimha Rao told local reporters that the blood tests conducted by the prestigious Delhi All India Institute of Medical Sciences (Aiims) hospital, would have found in the majority of the samples traces of lead, nickel and other heavy metals.
