(ANSA) - ROME, DECEMBER 16 - "A lockdown between Christmas, New Year and Epiphany, would be a severe blow.
In fact
, it would
entail a further loss of 10 billion euros for shops and public establishments, of which 3 billion euros of consumption in bars , restaurants and other administration activities and 7 billion in purchases of goods and products ".
This is what the president of Confesercenti, Patrizia DeLuise, affirms, in her report to the annual assembly of the association.
"The stop of the holidays is worth about 12 billion frozen items. But 64% of Italians, almost two out of three, plan to spend less than last year also on gifts and other Christmas purchases, from home to table", Confesercenti calculates. "This is the highest share ever recorded by the Confesercenti-Swg polls since 2001, which would translate into a reduction of 4.7 billion euros in consumer spending. The expenditure review is also felt under the tree: for gifts of friends and relatives, Italians declare on average that they have foreseen a budget of 162 euros, compared to 194 euros last year.
