(ANSA) - SYDNEY, DEC 28 - Sydney will greet the arrival of the new year on Thursday evening with the traditional pyrotechnic show in the bay that kicks off the festivities around the world, but this year the celebrations will take place without present spectators. The ban was introduced by local authorities to counter the spread of the coronavirus, even after a new outbreak emerged in the Australian city. There are 126 cases registered in the north of the city.

Before these new infections were recorded in the last few weeks, life in Sydney and in the rest of Australia had returned to almost normal thanks to a sharp decline in the number of infections. (HANDLE).
