"Ridiculous False Accusations": Alexander Wong responds to allegations of sexual harassment

Three days after evidence was published that the American super-designer had sexually harassed him, he decided to respond - and completely deny what was attributed to him.

"Their place is to see these lies," he said.

And the other question is - where is Vogue in this whole story?

In the past week, social networks have erupted in the face of numerous testimonies of sexual harassment on the part of successful American fashion designer Alexander Wong.

With the publication of the first testimonials, as presented on the Diet Prada Instagram page, the account he took on to expose injustices in the fashion industry, as well as on the Shit Model Management Instagram page - the designer chose not to comment and even closed his Instagram account for comments.

Celebrities, celebrities and even many reputable fashion magazines have completely ignored the affair.

Someone seemed to be trying to silence this story by force, but social media has its own rules, and what does not get on stage in the mainstream media and does not get official attention from the accused, only spreads even further.

And so, a lone confession by model Owen Mooney in Tiktok, in which he recounted the harassment he experienced from the designer at a New York club in 2017, spread like wildfire and ignited a real fire - creating a wave of further evidence.

In the end, despite the long disregard that lasted three days, the American designer was left with no choice and he responded to what was happening - while of course he completely denies these claims.

Initially, Wong's lawyer said that the incident described by Mooney on his ticketing account did not happen, and that apparently the model was wrong about the person who touched him intimately and without consent at the same club.

It is important to note that Mooney in his first viral confession did not reveal the name of the designer, but then he received comments asking if it was Wong, as they had experienced or heard of similar events that happened on the part of the fashion designer.

Eventually, Mooney uploaded a video in which he confessed that it was Wong.

This confession opened a window to a long line of other victims who confessed and described a similar pattern - touch without consent, exposing intimate organs and obscuring senses under the auspices of hard drugs, their Doug Wong, even without the other party expressing interest, desire or consent.

After the storm refused to calm down, the 37-year-old designer, the favorite of the stars (Kim Kardashian, Lady Gaga, Zoe Kravitz) and the supermodels (Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner), was left with no choice.

Wong's official response: "In recent days I have come across ridiculous and baseless false accusations. These allegations have been unjustifiably reinforced by infamous social media accounts for publishing defamatory information from anonymous sources with zero evidence or verification of any facts. I am indignant to see these lies presented to me as true. "I have never dealt with the horrific behavior described, and I will never act as described in these accusations. I intend to go into the depths of the matter and catch those responsible for the cruel distribution of these accusations on the net."

An equally big question around this story, is why big magazines in the fashion industry avoid engaging in it.

For example, in the American Vogue magazine you will not find any mention of the affair.

Nor in the reputed Harper's Bazaar magazine, Marie Claire and more.

Those who did deal with the story and wrote about the allegations made against the designer, these are news sites from around the world such as the British Guardian, The New York Times, BOF and others, but they also waited 24 hours and even longer to even dare to deal with the affair.

They are all important sources, but they are not the biggest magazines in the fashion industry.

It may be a conflict of economic interests, perhaps an inability to verify the allegations, or it may be a personal acquaintance with the designer who founded his brand back in 2005, which led the editors to make a decision not to engage in the story.

Either way, this is a disappointment.

There is an expectation to follow the rules of journalistic ethics and report on the story, as readers deserve, and not bury it in the hope that it will disappear.

It is likely that this stain in Wong's career will not go away so quickly, and days will tell if more people are willing to be exposed in this story or if it really is a false accusation.
