"God Save the Queen" or "Anarchy in the UK" - the most famous songs of the Sex Pistols are unforgotten, but so is the excitement, the break for which the band and the punk movement stood.

In 1976 the Sex Pistols became well known, but in January 1978 they disbanded on a US tour.

The British film director Danny Boyle now wants to tell this short but violent story in a six-part series for the US television channel FX.

The series, the working title of which is »Pistol«, is based on the memoirs of Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones, which he wrote under the title »Lonely Boy.

Tales from a Sex Pistol «.

Oscar winner Boyle (2009 for "Slumdog Millionaire") became known for a different look at a British subculture: the Edinburgh heroin scene, which he showed in "Trainspotting".

In this respect, staging the beginning punk scene in London in the mid-seventies should suit him well.

The scripts come from Craig Pearce, who has worked frequently with director Baz Luhrmann, and Frank Cottrell Boyce, who already wrote the book for the biopic "24 Hour Party People", which was about Factory Records label maker Tony Wilson.

Boyle said in a statement, “Imagine breaking into the world of The Crown and Downton Abbey with your pals and screaming your songs and your anger over everything it stands for.

This is the moment that changed British society and culture forever. ”At the center of“ Pistol ”is“ a young, charming kleptomaniac, a hero for our times - Steve Jones, who in his own words is 94th best Guitarist of the world. "
