The United States will request a negative test of the covid-19 to all the travelers who arrive by plane to the country.

The measure by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) expands a similar one announced last month for all passengers from the United Kingdom after the detection of a new strain of the coronavirus.

The new guideline seeks to prevent travelers from bringing new mutations of the coronavirus and will take effect from January 26.

Passengers must undergo a test three days before their flight leaves for the US Travelers will also be able to provide information on whether they have already been infected and have overcome the disease.

"Testing doesn't eliminate all risks, but when combined with a quarantine period and everyday precautions like wearing a mask and social distancing, it can make travel safer," said CDC Director Robert Redfield.

The United States registers more than 22 million accumulated cases of coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic and registers 379,551 deaths, according to the latest data from Johns Hopkins University.
