The FBI is monitoring reports of "various threats to harm President-elect

Joe Biden

ahead of the swearing-in ceremony" on January 20.

This was reported by CNN, adding details on the Bureau's alarm regarding other possible protests, including armed ones, between 16 and 20 January in the capital and in other US states.

"Other reports point to threats against Vice President-elect

Kamala Harris

and House

Speaker Nancy Pelosi,

" according to the FBI.

The date of Biden's inauguration in the White House is approaching, January 20, and - according to American media - the National Guard could deploy up to 15,000 troops for the ceremony.

President-elect Joe Biden said he is not afraid to swear an open oath on Capitol Hill's Western Front, a week after Donald Trump's fan assault.

"I am not afraid to take the oath outside, we have been informed," Biden assured after the FBI alert, while some former Bureau executives advised moving the ceremony inside parliament for security reasons.

Meanwhile, the department and the FBI are pursuing more than 150 suspects in the investigation into the assault on Congress, after having already arrested and indicted fifteen.

The New York Times writes it, predicting that the number is destined to rise.

The Bureau received over 70,000 'tip-ins' after asking for public help to identify the suspects who appear in various photos and videos.

Meanwhile, Capitol Hill police have opened an internal investigation of 10-15 officers for their role in the assault.

Two have already been suspended.

Analysts, the NYT continues, are examining information to identify any role domestic terrorist organizations or foreign adversaries may have played in radicalizing the rioters.

Twitter has closed "over 70,000 accounts" linked to far-right conspiracy theory QAnon: the decision follows the attack on Capitol Hill by a group of supporters of President Donald Trump.

The same company announced it.

In light of "the violent events in Washington DC and the increased risk of danger, on Friday afternoon we began to permanently suspend thousands of accounts dedicated primarily to sharing QAnon content," Twitter said.

"More than 70,000 accounts have been suspended as a result of our efforts since Friday, with many cases of numerous accounts being managed by a single individual."

THE IMPEACHMENT -

On the front of the legal actions against Donald Trump, the dems formally presented the only article for impeachment to the House for "inciting insurrection", for having instigated their supporters to attack Congress by challenging the certification of victory by Joe Biden but before putting him to a vote they make one last attempt with Mike Pence to invoke the 25th amendment to remove the president.

"Trump shouldn't be in office, period", Biden himself cut short in the evening, while the FBI's alarms about new protests in the capital and throughout the country in view of the oath of the Democrat, which in the meantime has completed the his team by choosing for the first time a long-time diplomat like William Burns as CIA chief.

On another frenzied day for American politics, Democrats asked Republicans for consent to introduce a motion that prompts the vice president to immediately oust Trump, but their opposition prompted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to put it to a vote today in classroom.

Upon approval, Pence will have 24 hours to respond.

The vice president, who has already distanced himself from Trump and announced his participation in the Biden settlement on January 20, said he is available to resort to the 25th amendment only if the Commander in chief shows further signs of instability.

But to do this it also needs the majority of the government (eight ministers).

If the president were to oppose it, the Chamber would need two thirds of the votes to oust him and it is not certain that there will be. Many Republicans would prefer a motion of censure. However, if Pence answered spades, Pelosi would immediately trigger the impeachment procedure, with a vote expected for mid-week: the motion has already been signed by 218 dem deputies, that is the simple majority necessary to approve the provision. Then the hypothesis of sending the transmission of the indictment to the Senate, and the related process, after the first 100 days of the Biden settlement, makes its way, to allow him to quickly collect the confirmation of the government appointments and start his agenda . An option contested by some conservative jurists, for whom only a current president can be 'meddled'. In any case, two-thirds of the votes would be needed in the Senate: 17 Republicans are missing and so far only a couple have called on Trump to resign.
