Surviving Death -Official Trailer (Netflix)

Dr. Mary Neil is an orthopedic spine surgeon and like many of her medical colleagues, she did not believe in the existence of paradise or life after death - until she experienced a near-death experience that completely changed her perception of life and death. Mother of four from Jackson Hall, New York, reveals her story in a new Netflix documentary, Surviving Death, about people who have had a similar experience to hers.In 1999, Neil went kayaking in southern Chile with a group of friends when her kayak got stuck at the bottom of a waterfall, the elephant and a jug Her underwater for 20 minutes.Neil recounted the life-changing event: "I did not breathe.

My upper body was completely slammed into the front of the boat.

I could feel my bones breaking. "She added:" Oddly enough, I did not think of pain, not fear, not panic.

I thought to myself 'I need to scream' but I didn't scream.

I realized I was dead but I felt more alive than ever. "

Neil says she felt drawn to the sky," I could feel my soul cut off from my body.

My soul was released towards the sky.

I was immediately greeted by a group of ... something.

I do not know what to call them.

people?

Ghosts?

Entities?

I did not recognize any of them, but they were somehow important in the story of my life, like grandparents who died before I was born. "Neil claims to have been welcomed by the same entities who led her on a path covered in hundreds of thousands of flowers. She added:" There was a complete change of time and dimension.

The route led to a large domed structure.

I believe I was in heaven.

I had an amazing feeling, I felt at home.

At the same time, I could look back at the river, where my body was still submerged in the water. "

Her friends from the kayak group searched for her for long minutes until one of them felt her wrist hit his foot.

They dragged her out of the water and found her swollen and purple after being left without oxygen for 24 minutes.

While the rescuers tried to revive her and begged her to come back to life, Neil, now 62, said she remembers watching from above her friends trying to revive her, "Obviously I was dead, but I watched from the entrance to the building when they started resuscitating me and I could still hear them."

She claims the entities told her it was not yet time to move on.

She said: "I did not want to go back down to my body, I felt a physical feeling that I was in a good and calm place, that everything would be fine, but then the entities told me it was not my time yet, that I had more work to do on earth and I had to go back to my body."

Seal recounted: "I was left without oxygen for almost 30 minutes and the statistical chance of my survival was supposed to be nil. Statistically, I had zero chance of surviving without significant brain damage, but I did not experience any brain damage at all."

She added: "When I opened my eyes, the guys who performed CPR on me were stunned."

In another bizarre coincidence, the group found an ambulance parked next to a dirt road close to the scene.

Neil was then hospitalized for more than a month suffering from broken bones and underwent several surgeries.

Miraculously, she fully recovered.

The secret she hid for a decade

There was one aspect to Neil's death threshold experience that she kept a secret from her family for years.

In her book, "To Heaven and Back," Neil shared that the "beings" warned her that her eldest son would die.

Ten years after the incident, her 20-year-old son, Willie, was killed in a car accident.

"They told me about the future death of my eldest son. They did not tell me the date or time, but it was very clear it would happen," she told the Huffington Post, "I woke up every morning hoping my son's fate would change."

As a doctor, Neil worked alongside people who did not believe her story.

Experts claim that the near-death experience is a hallucination of the brain caused by damage to the transfer of oxygen to the brain.

Others speculate that when the sensory perception of the body collapses, the brain tries to bridge the gap by using familiar symbols.

"People in science tend to think you should not believe such things," she said, "I do not believe we know everything. When I started medical school, I would define death as physical death, but my death threshold experience changed my definition of death significantly."

The new documentary series includes six episodes and examines first-hand death story stories, as well as analysis of the phenomenon by experts and also delves into the stories of people who claim to have experienced reincarnation.
