(ANSA) - BUDAPEST, 16 JAN - Hungary, unhappy with the arrival of vaccines in the EU, intends to order 1 million doses of the Chinese vaccine. Premier Viktor Orban announced this on public radio. The product would be that of Sinopharm, used as well as in China in different parts of the world, from Turkey to Argentina.

The European Commission spokesman said the EU has no information on the Chinese vaccine and there are no contacts on the matter with China. Orban solicits the authorization of the product from the Hungarian medicines authority, and intends to act by circumventing EU rules.

In Hungary, the Covid vaccine (from Pfizer and Modern) has so far been administered to 1% of the population, but there is no real divaccination plan. (HANDLE).
