Now angry subscribers on Twitter are turning to the streaming service.
Netflix increases prices in Germany - this is how customers react
Update from January 15, 2021
: So far, there seems to be no major shit storm due to the
Netflix price increase
(for more details, see below).
Even so, some customers contacted the streaming service on Twitter to vent their anger.
Not only the increase itself is criticized, but also the time chosen.
For example, one user points out that Netflix * is
shamelessly taking advantage of
the
corona situation
.
The tenor of some complaints: In the lockdown, more paying customers would use the platform because there weren't many other ways to talk.
@NetflixDE again 2 euros more for the premium tariff?
2019 13.99 euros - 2021 17.99 euros.
For the fact that the content deteriorates in quality, that's pretty bold.
Especially since you shamelessly exploit the whole Covid dilemma!

Other users declare that they are now determined
to cancel
their
subscription
: “This time I'm really out.
I wanted to quit when the price was last increased, but I left it, ”writes another customer.
Others express their disappointment with
Netflix's in-house productions
.
These have been less qualitative in recent years, as the streaming service tends to focus on quantity.
Some customers are reluctant to spend money on less quality originals.
If you are dissatisfied with the price increase, you will also find a good tip on Twitter: A user points out that the streaming service may not be able to
pass
the increase on to
Sky customers
.
They have the option of
accessing a
Netflix linked to Sky
.

already increased prices in the past few weeks.
In addition, a US analyst predicted an increase in tariffs months ago, which should become a reality in several countries.
Anyone who followed these developments shouldn't be surprised that Germany is now affected.
The positive side of the story: The increase
only applies to two out of three subscription models
.
They should cost one or two euros more in the future.

Why is Netflix increasing prices in Germany?
When
Netflix announced
the price increase in the UK, the streaming service named the cost of new British productions as the reason for the change.
The same argument applies here: “We change prices from time to time in order to continue to invest in great entertainment and to constantly expand the portfolio of films and series.
In the past two years, in addition to international productions, we have also massively increased our investments in German-speaking countries and brought more German content to the screen - we will continue to expand this in 2021, "a Netflix spokesman told dpa.
In fact, the streaming service has already announced many new originals for 2021.
Netflix
even made the daring promise in a YouTube video that it would release a brand new film every week starring true Hollywood greats like
Ryan Reynolds
,
Leonardo DiCaprio
,
Dwayne Johnson
and
Jennifer Lawrence
.
