Although our children have been at home for quite some time, the registration season for kindergartens has officially begun.

And that means we have some difficult choices ahead of us.

So how do you choose a garden when you can not enter it at all?

This year we have to choose the kindergartens without entering them or see what is going on inside, as parents are not allowed to enter the territory of educational frameworks.

Here are some tips to help you make the right choice, despite the challenges of the corona.

1. In the eyes of the observer:

When choosing a kindergarten, it is important to remember that what is right for us and our child is not necessarily right for our neighbors and friends.

Therefore we must check a number of genes in the desired area (home / work).

It is important that we have chemistry with the administrative staff but also with the educational staff (not always the kindergarten principals are a kindergarten teacher or a kindergarten teacher).

2. Kindergarten staff:

They will be the significant people who will accompany your dear child 6-8 hours daily.

Beyond the fact that we need to check that all the staff have been properly trained for their job, kindergarten teachers with a teaching certificate for preschoolers 0-6, caregivers who have undergone professional training, it is important to make sure the staff is satisfied and motivated for their workplace.

A stable team that works together for many years does not necessarily indicate success and high motivation.

More important is the general atmosphere such as: smiles, joy, a sense of help and mutual support among the kindergarten staff, and of course their interaction with the kindergarten children about which you can hear from parents in kindergarten or observation and listening while the kindergarten is active and in the yard.

3. Cleanliness and hygiene:

We already know we have been asked to ease our head on this issue, especially in a year like this.

Check that the garden maintains safety rules and considers cleanliness and hygiene to be a significant issue.

Both as a preventive factor and in educating children to the rules of maintaining hygiene and cleanliness on the way to independence.

5. Kindergarten staff's ways of communicating with the parents:

It is important to ask how the parents are updated on what is happening in the kindergarten.

Are there regular daily or weekly updates, is there documentation in photos in a routine activity or only in special activities.

Are there cameras in the kindergarten (since in the coming school year the law enters into force and hereby requires private kindergartens).

Does the kindergarten share with parents both difficulties and challenges and not only the positive things, is there a request for help and cooperation from parents, these indicate a great level of openness that we must see for the better.

How the staff maintains contact with the children and parents in the quarantine is also an indication of the relationships in the kindergarten and the perception of their importance.

6. Pedagogy

: It is important to check whether the kindergarten is run under any pedagogical supervision and guidance.

They are to maintain the professionalism and guidance of the staff and parents in the field.

The presence of a pedagogical mentor makes it easier for both parties to know that the kindergarten has an objective mentor who maintains professionalism and work rules, safety and security.

During this time when parents cannot enter kindergartens it is important to know that there is someone who represents the children, parents and staff and is there to bridge and provide professional tools.

7. Agenda:

Find out what the agenda is in kindergarten, and it is very important to have one - a regular agenda has an effect on the children's sense of security and adaptability. It is important to check what topics and activities take place in the garden and when, what are the bedtime and meal times. What activities and classes are there in the kindergarten (when it will be possible to bring operators into the kindergarten). 8. Nothing is taken for granted

: This year has taught us not to take anything for granted. Things we examine today may not be relevant tomorrow. It is therefore advisable to check what the cancellation and refund policy is. How the kindergarten is run and what the repayment policy is in the closure (this has a lot to do with learning about the financial management of the kindergarten). In contrast, it is also important to check in the other direction whether the kindergarten will be relevant for your child if you want to stay in it for another year.
