Interview with Gianluca Neri (42 production), happy that the investigation on San Patrignano appeals to young people (ANSA)

-An episode reportage investigation, a format not very popular in Italy and a painful theme that brought the public back over the years: SanPa - Lights and darkness of San Patrignano, the first Italian Netflix original docu-series, directed by Cosima Spender, has been among the most viewed products of the platform in Italy and abroad for 15 days.

With us it makes people discuss, rekindles the debate on the subject of Vincenzo Muccioli's methods, reopens wounds for those who lived through those years and makes new generations aware of a forgotten past.

Developed, written and produced by Gianluca Neri, it is also the debut of a new production company, 42. Made having "51 archive sources available, including the Teche Rai, of which 26% of the images on the duration have been used. In all, hundreds of hours to view, which took at least a year - he says in an interview with ANSA Neri, explaining a very long investigation process -. Two months of shooting, then a year of post production - assembly ".

Did you expect so much hype?

"A little, yes, but certainly not all of this. The interesting thing is the public, we imagined we could involve 'veterans' of those years instead there are many young people to whom we have told a world that they did not even imagine".

During the episodes, the spectator finds himself on a roller coaster: today's stories with the testimonies of the time, the chronicles of the trials, the mothers in the square, "many times we too were moved during the editing, certain things make you a little 'to twist your stomach, they make you think. This is why the future of 42 will be like this: to tell stories of this type in depth, without having presumptions or preconceptions. And this applies to all formats, we will not only make documentaries ".

Among the projects, the first concerns the case of Yara Gambirasio, the 13-year-old killed in the province of Bergamo (the Supreme Court just two days ago accepted the defense requests of Massimo Bossetti, who was definitively convicted. So the trial could reopen): Neri among other things, in the past, as a consultant, he followed all hearings.

Then the Uno Bianca, the series of crimes, 103, of the gang led by the Savi brothers, policemen, in Emilia-Romagna between 1987 and 1994: the production company is working on this story too, "but before that it could go on air - Gianluca Neri anticipates - a project proposed to the company by Selvaggia Lucarelli: Kids don't lie, children don't lie that retraces the tangled thread of cases exploited with childhood at the center between Rignano Flaminio and Bibbiano ".

Courted by more established companies and platforms, Neri (creator of the Macchianera web awards) points out that there are still no agreements with Netflix, Sky or anything else at the moment.

And that among the "41 projects in the pipeline" there is the transposition into docu-series of the story of Gianni Franciosi, the infiltrator among the narcos (there has already been a miniseries with Giuseppe Fiorello), created by Matteo Caccia author of a podcast on the topic, La Piena.

And then a novelty: the film debut: 42 has acquired the rights to Vittorio De Sica's memoir, La porte del cielo (published by Avagliano), for a co-production with the United States in which Christian De Sica could be involved. has always cultivated the dream of telling the story of his father and of those first tiring years of the first half of the last century.
