CIVITA DI BAGNOREGIO - The Executive Council of the Italian National Commission for Unesco has approved the next candidacy for inclusion in the World Heritage List: it is the 'Cultural Landscape of Civita di Bagnoregio'.
The project - a note from Mibact recalls - was promoted by the Lazio Region and the Municipality of Civita di Bagnoregio;
the ministry for cultural heritage and activities and tourism collaborated through the coordination of the Unesco Office of the General Secretariat and thanks to the contributions of the Archeology, Fine Arts and Landscape Superintendence for the metropolitan area of Rome, the province of Viterbo and southern Etruria.
The Municipality of Bagnoregio actively participated.
"The candidacy of Civita di Bagnoregio - comments the minister of culture, Dario Franceschini - is the right recognition of the synergy between the various actors of the territory, between public and private, to achieve the first, important step towards the registration of this site extraordinary on the Unesco World Heritage List. Now it is important that the work shared so far continues until the result is achieved, which rewards a cultural landscape of enormous value and beauty ".
The candidacy of the splendid village in the heart of Lazio Tuscia will be submitted, through the Italian Representation to Unesco, for evaluation by the advisory bodies of the World Heritage Committee.
The outcome will be reported in the work of the Committee in 2022. (ANSA).
