(ANSA) - MILAN, 21 JAN - The jewels of FrancaValeri, the actress and author who died at the age of one hundred last August 9, became famous with characters such as the snobbish lady, are going to be auctioned.
They will be included in the "Jewels online - La Dolce Vita", of the Christie's Milan auction house, in a refined selection of over 70 jewels signed by the most renowned Italian and international houses.
"Following the artist's death - explained Leo Criaco, Senior Specialist Jewelery Department at Christie's - the heirs have turned to us for the sale of these precious items".
Among the artist's jewels, in addition to the iconic Trumpet ring with cabochon sapphire made by Bulgari in the 70s, there is a pendant with an antique micro-mosaic depicting a Cavalier King dog.
"This is Franca Valeri's companion animal - explained Criaco -, the actress was very fond of".
A small but well-finished collection, where "each jewel has a story to tell, represents a moment in the artist's life and where his predilection for sapphires emerges".
Many of the jewels, in fact, appear worn by the same actress in some of her old photos.
For Christie's auction house "it is a pride to be able to be chosen for the sale of jewels of such an iconic figure for Italy".
The jewels should have been on display at PalazzoClerici in Milan, but with the new rules imposed by the government they will only be visible online, where they are on sale, from January 20 to February 3.
