If you have not heard the name Osaka speeches yet, now is the time.

Sports fans probably know who we are talking about, but as it seems at the moment - very quickly it will become a thing of the past in the fashion industry as well.

Naomi Osaka

, 23, is a professional tennis player who was born to a Japanese mother and a father from Haiti, grew up in the United States and has achieved many glittering achievements over the years.

Despite the corona, the past year has been a good year for it.

Last September, she won the United States Championship, just months after Forbes magazine published that she is the most profitable tennis player in the world, leaving behind big names like Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova.

She has been flirting with the fashion industry for years, but in the past year she has decided to deepen the relationship and has won a highly coveted title - Louis Vuitton's ambassador.

The fashion industry has been courting the award-winning tennis player for some time - and also occasionally manages to grab her attention for collaborations.

American Vogue chose her for the cover of the January issue, Nike collaborated with her, Harper's Bazaar Japan filmed her for the cover and production and also the handbag brand Strathberry created an Instagram campaign with her - and now it's the turn of a fashion house like Louis Vuitton to bring her into the family.

All this is happening in perfect synergy in which the watch brand Tag Hoyer also chooses her as ambassador.

It is worth noting that the combination of sports and fashion is not foreign or new.

Tennis player Serena Williams is already an integral part of the fashion industry and the Israeli tennis player Adi Spiegelman also combines the worlds and models in parallel with her career in sports and recently even starred on the cover of Elements magazine.

Aside from sports and fashion, Osaka is also known for its activism.

At the tournament in the United States where she participated this year she expressed her support for the Black Lives Matter movement, when she came to each of the games with a black face mask, with each mask having a different name of a black person killed unjustly by the police.

The masks she wore created no less great public discourse than her accomplishments in that contest, and then when interviewed on the subject she said, "I'm proud of my victory, but more proud of having made people talk about the really important issues."

While waiting for the Tokyo Olympics, Osaka posed for Louis Vuitton's Spring-Summer 2021 campaign, photographed by Nicolas Gasquier, the fashion house's artistic director.

"Wow, that's crazy. It's an honor for me to be Louis Vuitton's new ambassador," Osaka wrote on her private Instagram, which has 1.8 million followers, alongside photos from the campaign.

"Funny story: At the age of 16, I bought my mother a Louis Vuitton bag as a birthday present, and since then it's a tradition. Can it be called closing a circle?", She added.

In another statement on behalf of Osaka referring to her election as Louis Vuitton's ambassador, she said: "Other than tennis, my passion is fashion, and there is no more iconic brand than Louis Vuitton. Honor working with Nicholas. He is a designer I admire and we share a love of Japanese culture and style. A global brand is truly a dream come true for me. "

"Naomi is an exceptional woman who represents her generation," Gasquier added. "She is a role model, her career is inspiring. She stays true to herself and does not compromise on her values."
