(ANSA) - TURIN, 23 JAN - Thanks to the work of the Cavour Foundation, the tombstone of the tomb of Virginia Oldoni Verasis, countess of Castiglione, the 'femmefatale' who, on the mandate of the Count of Cavour, her acquired cousin, seduced Napoleon III convincing him to wage war alongside Piedmont.

It was among the finds of the liquidation of the old Grinzane Cavour Prize: Giuliano Soria had brought it from the Pere-Lachaise cemetery in Paris in 1999, where it was replaced with a copy, on the occasion of the centenary of the death of the countess, with the agreement to provide for its own expenses, to the restoration.

Lapietra, arrived in Turin, could not be restored because Soria, who died in 2019, was involved in serious judicial proceedings.

The institution he presided over was liquidated.

The plaque was then abandoned in the warehouse of a building company which, in the meantime, had ceased its activity.

Traces of it were lost and only today has it been found.

The Cavour Foundation, chaired by Marco Boglione, will contact the French Minister of Culture as soon as possible, through diplomatic channels, to agree on the final destination of the plaque, now preserved in a dedicated area inside the Cavourian park of Santena (Turin), near of the prestigious Diplomatic Hall of the Castle.
