The new US Vice President Kamala Harris has not yet moved into her official residence due to renovations.

She and her husband Doug Emhoff had been living in the US President's guest house, Blair House, directly across from the White House, since Thursday, Harris' spokeswoman Symone Sanders said.

It is still unclear how long they will stay there.

US Vice Presidents have lived in a residence on the grounds of the Naval Observatory, about two miles from the White House, since 1977.

According to the Washington Post, the residence has 33 bedrooms.

The Blair House in turn consists of four individual houses and has more than 120 rooms.

There are 18 full-time employees there.

The US President's residence in the White House has 132 rooms and 35 bathrooms.

Harris, who was the Senator for the US state of California until shortly before she was sworn in as Vice President, recently lived partly in an apartment in the capital Washington
