To contain or not, things seemed already complicated enough, including at the top of the state.
But it was without counting on the rumor spread by an elected official, the mayor of Cabourg Tristan Duval.
Monday, during the municipal council of his city, the city councilor affirmed to know the deadline of the next confinement, on which speculations are rife, announcing bluntly a reconfinement as of Thursday.
Word of the prefecture, advanced Tristan Duval.
"Off, the press is not there ... I was on the phone with the prefect who unfortunately announces a reconfinement [...], announced Wednesday evening from Thursday, except schools, and everything closes as in March.
Everything finished.
Wait for it to be official, but apparently that's what… […] Five weeks.
Apparently we have passed 30,000 cases.
"

The video, shared among others by the Mediavenir site, quickly reached several hundred thousand views, forcing the Calvados prefecture to speak out on Twitter to deny the news.
"On reading this tweet, the Prefect of Calvados indicates that he has not had a conversation today with the mayor of Cabourg on the hypothesis of a possible reconfinement", states the prefectural tweet.

The rumor ended on Twitter, where the video was shared the most, on Tuesday morning.
“Mayor Tristan Duval apologizes to (the prefect) for having expressed himself poorly during the Municipal Council (of Cabourg) and for having unnecessarily involved him.
These were just ongoing rumors that he thought was off record.
The city remains mobilized ”, declares the town hall of Cabourg on its account.
