Covid: again over 14,000 positives and almost 500 deaths

(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 28 - The number of positive tests for coronavirus in Italy remains high for the second consecutive day.

There are 14,372 in the last 24 hours, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

The victims are 492. Yesterday the positives were 15,204 and the dead 467.


    The molecular and antigenic tests carried out are 275,179, more than 18,000 compared to 293,770 yesterday.

Despite this, the positivity rate is 5.2%, stable compared to 5.17% the previous day.


    More encouraging data from intensive care, where hospitalizations are down by 64 units in the balance between entries and exits compared to yesterday.

Daily admissions are 102. In total there are 2,288 people in intensive care.

There is also a sharp decrease in the number of people hospitalized in ordinary wards (-383 compared to yesterday), which total 20,778.


    The total cases since the beginning of the epidemic are now 2,515,507, the deaths 87,381.

Currently positive are 474,617 (-3,352 compared to yesterday).

However, 1,953,509 patients have been discharged or recovered (+17,220).

There are 451,551 people in home isolation (-2,905).


    The regions that have recorded the highest number of coronavirus positive tests in the last 24 hours are: Lombardy2.603, Campania 1.313, Emilia Romagna 1.265, Lazio 1.263, Puglia1.159, Sicily 994, according to data from the Ministry of Health.


    Veneto recorded only 572 cases.


   Eight Regions continue not to communicate the data of the positive rapid antigenic tests, according to the Ministry table.

They are Sicily, Liguria, Marche, Abruzzo, Umbria, Basilicata, Molise and Valle d'Aosta.
