(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, 25 AUG - "What we are seeing now is either the beginning or the death knell of the extremist philosophy Maga (acronym for the slogan Make America great again). It is not just Trump, it is the whole philosophy that supports this sort of semi-fascism ": so Joe Biden at an event in Maryland to launch the Midterm campaign.

The US president warned that "this is no longer the Republican party of your fathers, it is a different thing" and attacked his predecessor: "I underestimate how much damage the previous four years have done to America's reputation in the world."

"It is not just about the Roe ruling on the right of abortion but also about gay marriage": Biden raises the alarm on other rights at risk, after the US Supreme Court canceled the historic ruling on termination of pregnancy.

"We will see a nationwide effort everywhere to wipe out women's right of choice," she warned, inviting voters to go and vote.

Biden then warned that the Republicans will also try to revoke the Obamacare if they win.

Biden then claimed to have reversed the course on the fight against climate change, "which now no one seems to doubt".

The American president recalled the recent natural disasters and stressed that permafrost is "literally burning".

And he also claimed American leadership in the Western coalition against Russia's invasion of Ukraine: "We have rallied the world to oppose Putin's aggression," Biden said amid cheering from the crowd.
