In 2023, food prices increased in supermarkets and discount stores. An Aldi purchase posted on X is therefore now surprising the net.

Frankfurt – Whether vegetables, cereal products or milk, a wide range of foods became more expensive last year. With the app "Too Good To Go" you can still shop cheaply, as an X user has now shown. He wrote: "I didn't expect that."

Big Aldi shopping for little money: An app makes it possible

The X user (formerly Twitter) shared his Aldi purchase in a short video on the platform, which he had received for only 3.30 pounds - the equivalent of just under 3.84 euros. Unlike many other posts on social media platforms, however, it wasn't about how little food can be obtained for a certain price. For only 3.30 pounds, the user received an incredible amount of food.

Among other things, the X user was happy about a "Korean Style BBQ Beef" from his "Food Surprise Pack" from Aldi. But that wasn't all he was supposed to find – the rest of the content really surprised him and his wife: "What else did we get?" he asked in the short video. Then he himself gave the answer: "Oh, we got 36 blocks of cheese." In the background, his wife bursts out laughing at these words.

Grocery bargains: Too Good To Go app also available in Germany

What the couple should do with such a large amount of cheese, they themselves did not know. Some users, on the other hand, had ideas. Among other things, Heinz's official X account commented on the video, writing, "Just enough cheese to cover your beans on toast." Another user was looking forward to his own surprise package at the sight of the 36 blocks of cheese: "If mine is half as good as yours, I'm blown away."

An Aldi employee also commented under the video: "Where was that? I've never put together such a too good to go box." The app "Too Good To Go" is also available in Germany. Users can use it to see which restaurants and stores have unsold and surplus food. These can then be sold to self-collectors at a significantly reduced price. The goal is to throw away significantly less food – the app is available in 17 states. (rd
