Aurelio Andreazzoli is one step away from being officially sacked from the Empoli bench.
Saturday afternoon's defeat in Verona was fatal and the only three points earned in the last eight games that relegated Empoli to the relegation zone, penultimate in the standings and 5 points from safety.
After the sacking of Paolo Zanetti in September, after 4 defeats out of 4 league games played, Empoli is one step away from making official the second sacking of the season.
Andreazzoli got off to a pretty good start, even winning three times, against Salernitana, Fiorentina and Napoli, but he didn't change the trend of a team that scored just 11 goals, the worst attack in Serie A.
The club had been thinking about this change since Sunday morning, the hypothesis of a return of Paolo Zanetti, under contract with Empoli until June 2025, had emerged. Then the turn on Davide Nicola who was sacked in February 2023 by Salernitana, after salvation in 2022. Nicola was still under contract with the Campania club. The official announcement should arrive in the late afternoon with the first training session tomorrow morning ahead of Sunday's home match against Monza in Empoli.
