Ginger tends to dry out quickly when you want to store it. But with these tips, the spicy tuber will stay fresh for up to three weeks.
Ginger gives many dishes that certain something. Asian dishes in particular benefit from the exotic aroma of the spicy root, but so does a homemade ginger shot. In addition, ginger acts as a healthy warmer from the inside, especially in winter. But how do you keep the tuber fresh for as long as possible?

Who doesn't know it, you bought ginger just a few days ago and instead of a yellow, juicy tuber, the ginger is pale and dried out. Many recipes call for very little ginger, which is why the question arises as to how best to store the remaining tuber. Keep the following tips in mind:
- Store ginger in a cool, dark place, whether sliced or the whole tuber. According to my beautiful garden, the fridge is suitable, but also the pantry.
- Wrapped in a paper towel, ginger will keep for up to a week. If the paper is moist and the ginger is then packed airtight, the tuber can keep for up to three weeks.

- As Utopia explains, sliced ginger can also be stored outside the refrigerator for some time. It doesn't matter that the interface becomes woody.
- Ginger is also great for freezing. To do this, cut it into fine slices, which you put in a freezer bag. If you have a vacuum sealer, you should shrink-wrap the discs to extend the shelf life. Or they grate ginger and fill it with water into ice cube molds. So you always have a small portion in stock.
