Highlights: A decade since one of the series that changed the face of television | Israel Hayom. "True Detective: Night Country" could have been a mediocre independent series. The decision to pair it with the well-worn brand of 'True Detective' may have been intended to give it a boost, but also tries to revive the brand. Ten years, go remember, but in the new season finale of "True Detective: Night Country" (which premiered yesterday in the US and Israel) there is a moment when the murder suspect throws a small sentence into the air that takes time back ten years. "Time is a flat circle and we're all trapped in it," the suspect tells the pair of police officers questioning him.

In other words, life events along the timeline are like a cycle repeating itself. In short, it was on this theory that "True Detective" built its very successful debut season.

This week marks the tenth anniversary of the rise of that exemplary season that built the brand. A decade into the era when "True Detective" was a real hit. In retrospect, it's fair to say that the dizzying effect left behind by the stars of the first season, Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey, marked a new era in television. Hollywood superstars abandoned movies and streamed to the small screen. As mentioned, time is actually a flat circle, and now a decade has passed and life repeats itself.

Her vocal comeback is now being made by the anthology series through the legendary Jodie Foster, who stars in her first major television role as a police chief in some frozen Alaskan town. Indeed, Foster and her partner Kelly Rice are leading an extraordinary season with a typecast that deviates from the norm and a story that looks at events from a female perspective. Besides, "Detective" is still a series built on a complicated crime mystery, cops with problems and a dark, snowy film-noir atmosphere.

Eight scientists from an Arctic research station disappeared. A few days later they are discovered frozen and naked in ice. The strange case somehow connects to an old affair about a missing girl, forcing two investigators who hate each other to unite to solve the mystery. And then what happens? The excessive use of darkness and dark and cold tones heightens the mystery, at the same time the relationships that the characters have in the series are so complex and multi-layered that they too become mystery.

In short, this season - which received the name "Night Country" - could easily have been an independent and mediocre series. The decision to pair her with the well-worn brand of "True Detective" may have been meant to give her a boost, but also tries to revive the brand. To remind us how we were excited a decade ago about a crime series that doesn't listen to the rules, with dirty cops and a dark cinematic atmosphere. Time is probably really a flat circle, if it's 2024 and "True Detective" is another thing to talk about.
