It's a very closed circle. Winner of an Emmy Award on Monday night, legendary British musician Elton John has now won all four major artistic awards in the United States: an Oscar (film), a Tony (theater), a Grammy (music) and Monday night an Emmy Award (television) for one of his last concerts.

He is the 19th star to achieve this exceptional performance, dubbed "EGOT" ("Emmy Grammy Oscar Tony"), after Audrey Hepburn, Whoopi Goldberg, Mel Brooks, John Legend and Viola Davis.

Elton John, 76, who was not in Los Angeles on Monday night for the 75th Emmys, won the award for best live show for his farewell concert in that city on Nov. 20, 2022. "Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium" was a flamboyant farewell concert to North America, as part of his "Farewell Yellow Brick Road" world tour, a marathon of 328 dates spread over five years and which grossed nearly a billion dollars.

"We knew it was going to be historic because it was Elton's last show in North America," producer Ben Winston said on stage at the Emmy Awards.

But "we didn't know that what would be historic would be the victory of a man who invented all the soundtracks of our lives, the one who did so much for society, one of our heroes, we didn't know he was going to win an EOGOT," he said.

A Farewell World Tour

On Sunday, November 20, 2022, Elton John, in a sequined bathrobe, gave his last North American concert in front of more than 140,000 fans at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, the city that helped take off his global career half a century ago.

On the stage of this baseball stadium, which in 1975 hosted two of his most famous shows, he gave a concert during a "very special, very moving" evening, broadcast live on Disney+.

The farewell world tour came to an end in Stockholm last July.

Elton John has already won two Oscars for his original songs "The Lion King" (1994) and "Rocketman" (2019). A Tony for the show "Aida" in 2000 and five Grammys.
