Brussels sprouts are a vegetable that is in season during the cold season from September to March.
It is very healthy and contains many vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C, vitamin K and folic acid.
Its mild, nutty taste comes into its own both raw in a Brussels sprout and carrot salad and braised in a spicy Brussels sprout curry.
But the small cabbage is also popular as a side dish in a variety of recipes.
In the farmer's pot, Brussels sprouts give the dish a special taste, because the combination of Brussels sprouts, potatoes and minced meat is perfect for a winter stew that fills you up and warms you from the inside.
You make a hearty farmer's pot with minced meat, potatoes and Brussels sprouts like this:
For the hearty stew called farmer's pot with Brussels sprouts you need these ingredients:
300 g Brussels sprouts
300g potatoes
100g onions
1 clove of garlic
50 ml oil
300 g minced beef (you can also use these vegetarian alternatives)
50 g tomato paste
600 ml vegetable broth
1 tsp salt
0.5 tsp pepper
Crème fraîche, as desired
Parsley, if desired

Preparation is easy thanks to these step-by-step instructions:
Clean and halve the Brussels sprouts.
Peel and dice the potatoes.
Finely chop the onions and garlic.
Heat the oil in a large pot and fry the minced meat together with the onions for five minutes.
Stir in the tomato paste and sweat briefly.
Add potatoes, Brussels sprouts, garlic along with the vegetable broth.
Salt and pepper.
Bring to the boil, reduce the heat and simmer, covered, for 20 minutes until the vegetables are cooked.
Stir occasionally.
Divide the farmer's pot into bowls and serve garnished with crème fraîche and parsley if desired.
