Many smartphone users charge their devices at night.
In the worst case, however, this can lead to serious injuries or fires.

Manufacturers such as Apple and Samsung warn against certain behavior when charging at night.
Charging your smartphone at night: Apple warns of risks with the iPhone
Many people now own a smartphone, but very few of them will have read the user manual.
However, Apple, Samsung and Co. provide information there that can be of immense importance for using the devices.
Among other things, care should be taken when charging iPhones at night, as Apple writes: “You should not sleep on a device, a power adapter or a Qi charger or place these devices under a blanket, a pillow or your body while they are connected to a power source are connected.”
Many smartphone users charge their devices at night, but this can have serious consequences if used incorrectly.

It can become problematic “if your body is so disposed that it does not react immediately to high temperatures and heat.” In the worst case, ignoring this information can lead to serious consequences: “Failure to follow these safety guidelines can lead to fires, electric shocks or other injuries or damage to the iPhone or other property.” Apple is not the only manufacturer to warn its users.
Samsung users should also be careful when charging
The other major smartphone manufacturer is Samsung, which has probably just been replaced by Apple as the world's largest smartphone provider.
Apple sold around 234.6 million new iPhones in 2023, and Samsung was able to bring 226.6 million smartphones to customers, as market researchers from IDC reported.
Samsung also urgently warns users of its Galaxy smartphones to pay attention to the safety instructions: “Failure to follow them can result in serious injury or death,” it says.
First of all, clear instructions are generally given not to use damaged cables or to handle electricity with wet hands.
Samsung doesn't provide any information about charging at night, only about inconvenient places to store it while charging.
Therefore, care should be taken not to place the smartphone near heaters or other heat sources while charging.
The device could overheat there and cause a fire - so charging under the warm blanket could also be too warm here.
