 The meeting between Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, according to what we learn from Italian sources, also allowed a discussion on major global issues also in light of the Italian presidency of the G7, with particular reference to the war in Gaza and the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Meloni, the same sources explain, expressed great appreciation for Ankara's constant diplomatic mediation efforts, with particular reference to the reactivation of the Black Sea Grain Initiative to unblock the shipment of wheat from Ukrainian ports after last July Russia did not the agreement was renewed. 



The strengthening of migratory cooperation, as far as we know, is among the topics addressed in the meeting between the prime minister and the Turkish president.

This was explained by Italian sources, according to whom last year's collaboration led to a 56% reduction in irregular flows along the Italy-Turkey corridor.

Cooperation in this area, it is explained, will be increasingly closer also in relation to Libya where the respective Foreign Ministries intend to conclude an agreement soon.



The two leaders discussed the security and development of the Mediterranean with a particular focus on Libya, as well as the future of the African continent, also in view of the next Italy-Africa summit in Rome.

The meeting, it is explained, finally represented an opportunity to have an exchange of ideas on EU-Turkey relations in the political, economic and commercial fields also in light of the recent joint communication from the Commission and the EU High Representative
