Be careful if you are on the roads in the north of the country this Sunday early in the afternoon.
Bison futé calls in a press release on all “road users to be vigilant” in the north of France, after Météo France informed of “a phenomenon of freezing rain
(which makes the roads slippery)
which crossed the North -West and North at the end of the night.
According to Bison futé, this phenomenon “is now heading east and extends from the north of Allier and Cher to Champagne-Ardenne, Burgundy and Lorraine”.
“The phenomenon could last until the beginning of the afternoon,” adds Bison futé.
Météo France indicates that “temporary freezing rain” affected “the northern half of the country this Sunday morning”.
“Despite all the care taken by road managers to clear the roads and maintain them in good condition, traffic conditions are delicate in these areas,” warns Bison futé in the areas concerned.
The latter even recommends to users “to postpone travel” if weather conditions “are bad on their route”.

Several accidents this Sunday
As a result of these slippery roads, around twenty people were injured in a pileup involving ten vehicles this Sunday early in the morning in the Somme.
The icy patches were also the cause of a road accident which took place this Sunday morning, shortly after 6 a.m., on the A13 motorway in the province-Paris direction.
A 60-year-old woman also lost her life in another accident near Mantes-la-Jolie (Yvelines).

The northern third of France was hit by heavy snowfall in the middle of the week, and temperatures remained negative in the days that followed.
However, a significant mild spell is expected from this Monday, with temperatures reaching up to 15°C in the northern half.
