Many people are nervous before their first day of work in a new company.
Here you will find out how you can get started in your company without any problems.
Sweaty hands, stomach pain or tremors.
Employees often struggle with signs of nervousness before their first day of work - similar to before the job interview - in a new company.
Often these doubts are completely unfounded.
The TV job coach and best-selling author Jochen Mai explains in the
career bible
which points you need to pay attention to in order to make a good impression when starting your job and which mistakes you should definitely avoid in order to prevent a bad working atmosphere.
1. Appropriate clothing and punctuality
Employers understandably place great value on punctuality.
It is therefore important to plan enough buffers on your way to work, especially on the first day, so that you can still arrive at the company on time, even if there are traffic jams or train delays.
You should also arrive in appropriate clothing.
On the first day, it's better to be too chic than too casual.
2. Detailed preparation on the first day of work
Similar to the job interview, the same applies when starting work: good preparation is important in order to know the basic situation in the company.
It also makes a good impression if you go through the induction plan with your future supervisor before you start work.
This saves time on the first day of work.
You should also find out about the premises in advance, this also creates a good impression.
3. Show willingness to perform
Even if there may be a short idle at the beginning, under no circumstances should you use this to get lazy.
Sometimes your new employer could also check your willingness to perform.
Instead, you should ask colleagues about tasks or help them with their work processes.
This makes an impression and increases the willingness of your colleagues to help you if you have problems.

4. Ask questions on the first day of work
The most important point is that you absolutely have to ask questions.
On your first day at work and generally in your early days, you may actually not be familiar with the company's processes.
It is therefore important to ask questions and get help.
This also shows your interest in the company.
If you are unsure, it is better to ask than to act on your own initiative and thereby produce errors.
It's also good to know how you can stay calm in stressful situations at work.
5. Development of relationships
A good relationship with colleagues is the be-all and end-all. Expert Mai explains that overly bold newcomers often stumble because they did not build up a personal network of relationships in time.
That's why you should approach your colleagues right from the start and talk to them.
Whether in the company canteen or at the Italian restaurant around the corner: having lunch together can break the ice with your new colleagues.

6. Celebrate your debut rather cautiously
Want to win the hearts of your colleagues with a big drink after work?
Although it's meant kindly and could perhaps work for one or two colleagues, it's anything but well received by your superiors, career expert Simone Stargardt explains to
ChannelPartner: "
As a boss, I would be rather horrified, especially if alcohol was served. Rather, she advises that newcomers should observe how birthdays or other special occasions are celebrated in the company.
7. Bring in ideas
As a manager, you want active cooperation and logical thinking from your employees.
So if you immediately think of ideas on the first day, bring them in, it shows you're interested.
However, you should be careful not to try to revolutionize the company on the first day with your ideas, as this can sometimes come across as arrogant and snooty.
So don't rush in straight away, but listen carefully first.
8. Don't make empty promises
Of course, you want to make an impression on your colleagues right from the start and appear competent.
However, avoid making big promises in the first few days - for one simple reason: you don't know the company structure at all and you don't know how quickly projects can be implemented.
Therefore, first get to know the company before rushing out with announcements.
