Former “Tagesschau” presenter Linda Zervakis knows what a new beginning feels like.

Now she has bought a house in the country and written a book about it.

This doesn't change anything for you.

First of all: This is not a guide on how best to leave the city and buy a house in the country.

It's also not a book like how do I emigrate abroad.

Rather, as Benjamin von Stuckrad-Barre says of the book, it is “an ode to city life and a great pleasure.”

This makes it the perfect book for autumn, in one of your favorite places to read.

Linda Zervakis “Shore Leave”: That’s what the book is about

Why not just leave everything behind, look for possible housing options in the country in a classifieds market and then, if everything fits, take it?

In “Landgang” a dream comes true for Linda Zervakis to try out something beyond the city.

The result is a book with many ideas and challenges that often leave the reader with a smile.

Linda Zervakis has always been a pioneer - for example, the first daily news anchor with a migrant background.

In the meantime she has set off for new destinations, changed the channel - and bought a house in Schleswig-Holstein on eBay classifieds.

Landgang tells about building up, arriving and getting into trouble - and about how the country and its people have changed so much in recent years.

And Linda.

Linda Zervakis “Landgang”: The perfect book for autumn

“Shore Leave” by Linda Zervakis is not a biography.

Where Guido Maria Kretschmer talks about the dark sides of life, entertainment is at the forefront.

This makes “Landgang” the perfect book for autumn, when you like to retreat inside to grab one of the books you haven’t read yet from the bookshelf.

Just like many people who move from the country to the city and try to settle in, the two friends have to overcome one or two obstacles in the other direction in order to really feel at home in their new destination.

So it's not just animals and plants that pose challenges for both of them.

In an interview with

Bild der Frau,

Zervakis described the challenges she faced in the country.

She also emphasized that the sense of community that many long for is greater in the countryside than in the anonymous city.

She liked the fact that “someone is always coming over.

It doesn't matter whether you're cleaning or working."

She first had to learn how to ask someone stranger for help, and it wouldn't work without a city.

You could get closer to each other in village pubs.

In short: “Landgang” is an entertaining book, and not just for anyone who is interested in a cottage in the country.
